7 years, 7 facts

I’ve been lucky enough to spend the past 7 years with a wonderful human called Ali 🙂 He features in my posts quite a lot so for our anniversary I thought I’d put together 10 random facts about us! Oh and dont forget the cute  embarrassing pictures to go with each of them! I promise this won’t be too sickly sweet!

Fact 1: We’re in a band together! Yes, Ali is one of the members of No People Club. We write a lot of songs together and have been in various bands together for the past few years. Before I was ever in a band with him I used to help out with his band at school.

Fact 2: We’re both perfectionists in very different ways. Ali will spend hours over a mix (he’s training to be a sound engineer), like I will an assignment. If we both have something to do in the same week it can get a little tense.

Fact 3: I have never and hopefully will never see Paramore without Ali. We both absolutely LOVE the band and have been to a show every time we’ve known about it. This is a picture of us from our first Paramore show in 2010!

Fact 4: There is no shame in this relationship. One of the pros and cons of being together since we were young teenagers is that we’ve seen each other go through the awkward teenage years, there’s not much left to be embarrassed about. 406334_10150721436408206_1359220205_n

Fact 5: I’m the crazy one, he’s the quiet one.

Fact 6: There was a huge group of us who would count down for Ali’s house parties when we were teenagers. They were awesome with the best memories we could make(some of which I can’t share on here because they’re pretty awesome but we would not like to reach the parents of the people that went). It was like a classic ‘high school’ american party but with better music and ordering domino’s pizza. The picture is of us from his 16th birthday party.

Fact 6: After getting me to look into uni, Ali then had a gap year so we could start at the same time, even though at that point we weren’t sure if we were going to the same uni.

Fact 7: Ali missed his prom, instead he say at home with me (I was a year too young to go)  watching TV, building lego and eating pizza before going to a friends afterparty. He was the first person I told when I got accepted.

21 Things to know about my Mum

10469453_10153964988203206_577740483485906836_n

Today is my amazing Mum’s birthday!! I don’t need to tell you again how much I love her and how much she does for me on a daily basis (including having to push me around town on her birthday, sorry Mum!). So my Mum is eternally 21 or younger in her head so I thought I’d share 21 things instead of the age she actually is today *cough 42, cough*.

1. My Mum couldn’t drink on her 21st birthday because she was growing me and stuff.

2. Her first school shoes were purple heels, the rebellion begins.

3. She likes Marmite…that’s gross.

4. She has smaller feet than me…

5. …oh and she’s tiny, even shorter than me!

6. Pink is Mums colour, always, always pink.

7. She could drink almost all of my friends under the table.

8. For a long time she called Instagram, Instragram…oh Mum

9. She wanted to be a mechanic while she was growing up

10. Disney is her favourite place, in the world, ever.

11. She has the strange ability to get any animal to misbehave

12. My Mum is the reason I love live music! She’s been taking me to concerts since I was 4! Actually the first was while I was still in her belly.

13. She was a slight demon child to her siblings, my aunt has the proof

14. My Mum’s a FIGHTER! She’ll kick your butt

15. Madonna, everything Madonna.

16. She’s more than a little bit in love with David Beckham

17. Oh and Johnny Depp

18. But she’s been with my Dad for 22 years ( I think)

19. My love of red lipstick comes from my Mum

20. You always hear my Mum coming down the road in the car because of the music blasting from it.

21. She’s the most incredible woman you’ll ever meet and I’m so lucky she’s mine ❤

6 things about my amazing Nanna

IMG_1464

Mum and Nanna last christmas

As much as I wanted a charmingly embarrassing picture of me and my Nanna from when I was little, I think they’re all been hidden, she’s pretty glam my Nan. So today is her 65th birthday and I could write pages and pages about this lovely lady I wanted to do one for the 6 and a half decades she’s been on this planet.

1. I don’t know anyone who loves pink more!

If in doubt, go with pink. That’s just Nanna’s way.

2. She was able to put up with The Jungle Book and 101 Dalmations on repeat. every.single.day.

So after I was born my Mum and I lived with my grandparents until I was almost 3 years old, while my Mum had to go to work I’d stay with Nanna. She must have watched those two films so many times and half memorised them that along with Tots TV, Come Outside, Noddy and so many more. Oh and there were farm trips too 😀

3. When I was younger she could make me fall asleep within 5 minutes

Stroking my face and giving me a cuddle and I was out like a light…could still work now to be fair.

4. She’s a great peace maker

Every time I needed new school shoes, Nanna had to come because we NEVER agreed. While me and Mum would almost start world war 3 in the Clarks kids section, Nanna somehow smoothed it over before coffee and cake after.

5. She knows me a lot better than most people

I’m not girly unlike my Mum, Aunt, Sister and Cousins but that doesn’t mean that Nanna doesn’t know what I’ll like. We might not agree on clothes (in fact we rarely do) but Micheal Kors handbags and designer watches? Nanna knows me all over!

6. She’s the best Nanna you could ever ask for

And I mean that too, there is absolutely no one else like my Nanna. She’s there, always, she can damn stand up for herself, she’s strong, she’s kind and I’m sorry guys but she’s mine.

Happy Birthday, I love you so much xx

Getting to know me

When I was younger I had an obsession with long personality questionnaires, I wasn’t alone we all went a bit mad. I found one online today which isn’t basic but I think will give you all a little bit more of an idea about me. I’m hoping to do some more of these later on and maybe some student ones! If you have any ideas post them in the comments section below.

Who do you work with that you really respect?

I have a friend at uni called Sonia, she’s totally honest and works hard. She gets a lot of stick from other people but refuses to change herself to make people like her. I really respect that about her.

Who is there that makes you want to be a better person?

My boyfriend, definitely. He tells me when I’m right and he tells me when I’m wrong. He’s absolutely brilliant with me especially when he knows that I can do better. I want to be the best person I can be for him because of everything he does for m.
Who is the most dependable person in your life?

Umm again I think it would be my boyfriend.
If you had a year off with pay, what would you do?

I’d spend half of it travelling across the world, hopefully with my band and the other half in internships for jobs I really want so when I came back I could have a better shot at a job I really wanted apart from being a musician.

Where is the funniest place you have ever fallen asleep.
On the floor of my boyfriends bathroom…twice.

Who is the best living guitar player?
That’s a really tricky one! I love so many…too tough!

I’d say about a 6/7 really want it to go up though.

My friends ‘Amy moments’ are the highlight of my week.

What is the first thing you think about when you wake up in the morning?

How long I have until I really have to get up

How old where you when you realized you are lucky?

I wouldn’t say there was an age, I think I started to appreciate things and people more around the time I moves to uni so around 18/19

If you had your own TV network what would you put on it?

Lots of comedy, bands and some great life documentary’s NO SPORT. Pretty much BBC3 minus the football.

Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

What Olympic sport would you like to try?

Ice Skating! My boyfriend and his sister done it for sport when they were young and I would love to just be able to stay off my bum!

What is the largest crowd you have ever been in?

Definitely at a gig.

When was the last time you said “I am glad I do not have that job”?

Uni bus drivers when they get a load of attitude when people are running late.

If you could have lunch with anyone living who would it be?

Hayley Williams, J.K Rowling, Jodi Picoult, Jenna McDougall, Tay Jardine..can I have more people!!

A nice big family house which has a library, swimming pool and recording studio.

Something fun and silly, let him have five minutes off!

What small town would you like to live in?

I don’t know if I would…I would go mad.

I have a note on my wall from my last day or secondary school that I had to go to. It pretty much said to keep my head up, it meant a lot to me.

Who was your best friend growing up?

I had a friend called Kara and a friend called Jordan who now lives in Australia!

If you could ask one person one question and get a completely honest answer who would it be and what would you ask?

All I’m going to say is I’d ask someone why so that I knew for sure and could move on.

When in your life have you had a “now or never” moment?

Umm I’m not sure off the top of my head.

What was the first professional sporting event you went to?

Golf. I paid no attention but met Gary Linaker
