Kicking off birthday week.

So, birthday week has kicked off! With yesterdays cupcake class done (and me shopping on amazon for pieces to buy so I can make more) and I headed into work for a reasonably normal day and ended up finishing earlier than planned, result! Which meant going off to meet Joe for a surprise present…I’d heard a bit about it but had no idea.

So off to Spoons (as usual) to talk about all manner of things, some you should talk about loudly in a pub, others you probably shouldn’t haha. Joe had handed me something on the way it was light and he’s decorated it in pretty pink paper…thanks dude!

The result was something that took my breath away a hand drawn portrait of Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter. Something that had taken so much time, effort and careful consideration. Apparently it had a few emergency’s as well…it shows how loved I am. No, not in that way he’s my best friend and there is no attraction between us, that’s laughable.

I’ve left a close up below so you can all appreciate how outstanding it is and what an incredibly talented artist Joe is (he was turned down for an art course believe it or not…no I can’t see how either). I can’t believe how much work has gone into this. It now has pride of place on my bedroom wall, as it should do.

Happy Birthday Harry I owe you one!

I should start this post by saying that actually I owe J K Rowling one, as without her Harry would not exist. Like many of my generation I am a Harry Potter fan, although my dedication may be slightly bordering on obsessive. It’s funny because when I was 7 I wasn’t bothered by it, I didn’t understand the hype of all the movies. I think that changed when I picked up one of the books at some point. I fell in love with it, I read them all again and again and then I became obsessed. I have literally boxes and boxes of the Harry Potter stuff I’ve collected over the years.

I don’t know what it is about those books that made me sit every summer and read each and every one cover to cover. I don’t know how J K Rowling managed to capture not only a few kids but the entire world with a slightly dorky hero, his lanky best friend and a know it all with a big heart. Actually no, as I write that I do know it’s because we could relate to them and growing up as much as I wanted to be a Ginny, I’ve always been and accepted that I am a Hermione and that’s okay. These books shaped me without me even realising and I love them so much they do not move from my parents house (I don’t even take them to uni in case they get damaged) and that feels odd. I was that geeky kid with her nose stuck in a book with a play want at her side trying to make her socks levitate (true story). I would pour over anything Harry Potter I could, went mad at Harry Potter Land USA then almost burst with pride at the Studio Tour.

I could write about Harry Potter and the world Jo created for pages and pages but I won’t.So to Harry and Jo, Happy Birthday and thank you so, so much.

Harry Potter Studio Tour

It’s rare you’ll find someone who loves Harry Potter more than I do. I’ve been collecting for the past 10 years so imagine how excited I was when at Christmas dinner I found a ticket for the studio tour in my cracker! The tour was incredible and I’m so grateful my parents booked it. So much detail went into those films that people don’t realise. I’ll admit as a super book fan I got frustrated when things were left out but seeing everything today left me in awe of their talent. Here are some of my favourite pictures from today. Oh and I bought a wand for luck,it’s a copy of one that belonged to  ‘the brightest witch of her age’, who taught us all it’s okay to be smart

My Top 10 Films to watch at Christmas

I thought I would treat you all to another top 10 seeing as my life currently consists of my temp job, sleeping and trying to fit everything around it. Here are some of my top films to watch at Christmas even though some of them arn’t that traditional.

10. Any Harry Potter film…

To say that I’m obsessed with Harry Potter is an understatement. There are two times that all of the films should be on the TV, once in the Summer and then again at Christmas, or you know any time of year at all really…

9.Miracle on 34th Street (1994)

Matilda and Santa teamed up and it got adorable. Ok so this film came out when I was a few months old I don’t have to watch it at Christmas but it’s always nice to have on the TV.

8.The Grinch that stole Christmas

One thing you need to know is that I am the girlfriend to another Grinch. I loved this film growing up, I don’t have any real reason why but it just is a great Christmas film.

7.Tangled

A lot of people won’t understand this choice because I’m 19 and it’s so new for a Disney film. For some reason this is on every Christmas now and I absolutely love it! C’mon she hit’s him around the head with a frying pan, sorry spoiler alert.

6.Shrek

Another film that just seems to be on around Christmas and one that makes me laugh all the time. It doesn’t matter if it’s 1,2 or 3, not 4 I haven’t seen 4. You can just sit down and watch Shrek no matter what age you are.

5. Bridget Jones’ Diary

It is not Chistmas or even December until I have watched Bridget Jones. It starts and ends at Christmas and we can’t forget the lovely jumpers or the Turkey Curry Buffet!

4.Toy Story 2

I was only 4 when this came out in 1999 and I was obsessed with it, I even had the Jessie the cowgirl outfit. It’s another family film with a happy ending.

3.Toy Story

…Of course you can’t just watch Toy Story 2 and this is the film that is mainly on the TV at this time of year. Who doesn’t love a bit of Woody, Buzz and the rest of the gang!

2. Elf

‘IT’S SANTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA’

There is a reason this is in at number 2. The writers of Elf are incredible I worship them. As for Will Farrell? Oh my lord that man is funny. It makes kids laugh, it makes adults laugh and it has brilliantly inappropriate burping.

1. Love Actually

This is where I am allowed to be a girl. This is my all time favourite Christmas film even if my boyfriend is mean and wont watch it with me (he say’s it is too girly). It’s so well written and there are so many great actors in it. I also get some eye candy between Hugh and Colin.

I do not own these images…please don’t sue my arse.
