Sunday Seven: My Christmas Wishlist

Can you believe it, we’re already in our first Sunday of December! The big day is only 21 days away and I could not be more excited! Now, my Mum is super organised, she asked me for a Christmas wishlist weeks ago (which meant I had to think fast), the conditions she had were that I wasn’t allowed to ask for any Pop Vinyls or Lush products (I go to the Lush sale on Boxing Day, last year I spent a little more than I planned). So this year I thought I would share with you seven things I popped on this list!

Reach For The Sky Toy Story jumper, Vans.

I am a HUGE lover of Toy Story, it’s one of my all time favourite films. I saw this jumper in the collab between Disney and Vans and wanted it from that second.

Calvin Klein Underwear

Normally I’m not one for designer products BUT I received a black pair of these for my birthday this year and they are the most comfortable set of underwear I’ve ever owned. Comfort is key when it comes to underwear.

Great British Bake Off 2016 book

This was the first year I really got into Bake Off and I absolutely LOVED it. So, of course, I’ve added this to my list, especially as it’ll be the last one featuring Mary, Mel and Sue, *sob*.

Fantastic Beasts Screen Play

This was a last minute addition after seeing Fantastic Beasts last week. I am obsessed with Harry Potter anyway, I loved the characters and this is an absolutely beautiful  cover.

Game of Thrones Monopoly

I love monopoly, I’m loving making my way through the GoT novels so this is just something fun to have! Perfect for Winter 😉

Ron Weasley’s Wand

Of the golden trio I only have Ron’s wand to get. Currently, I have Harry, Hermione and Ginny’s wands so it seemed only right that I finally get Rons. I’m also hoping to add to my collection later with other Wands such as Newt Scamander and co.

In the Dark, in the Woods – Eliza Wass (Also known as The Crasswell Plot)

This is one of a few books I’ve put on my wishlist, I’ve heard so many good things about this book and it’s known to be quite creepy!

What is on your Christmas wishlist? Leave in the comments below!

Sunday Seven: Things That Always Happen When You Start A New Job

This week I started a new job in a turn of events! Here are 7 things that always happen when you start a new job!

The panic of what to wear.

When you start in a new place there’s always a panic (for women anyway) of what to wear. I only met two people in my interview and I had no idea how formal you were supposed to dress, luckily after a day I could tone it down.

The Linkedin search.

I like having an idea about the company and the people so I do a frenzied Linkedin look before I start, I’ve also found that in my new job and my old job other people looked me up too, proving to myself that it’s not just me being super nerdy.

Setting multiple alarms to make sure you’re awake.

I’ve legitimately had nightmares where I’ve massively overslept for work and woken up thinking it was real. Ok that happened yesterday…*sigh*

The dread of learning everyone’s names.

I’m not the best with everyone’s names, luckily I had a little sheet made for me so that I can check it every now and again to double check who’s who when I get confused.

The awkward nice to meet you handshakes.

Or, you know, just feeling awkward as the new girl anyway..

Getting lost.

My new office isn’t big but I did spend a few minutes trying to work out how to get out of the building until someone told me…whoops.

Wanting to tell everyone about the slightest cool thing about your job.

I get so excited about my new job that I just want to tell everyone everything that’s cool.

Sunday Seven: What I’m Listening To

One of my greatest loves is and always has been music, one of my favourite parts of the day is picking my music for the journey to and from work. While at the moment there is a lot of pop, this changes from time to time (Ali’s made a great Pop Punk playlist which I listen to regularly). So here are a few of my current favourites.

Lady Gaga – Joanne

I’ve always been a fan of Gaga, but her last album wasn’t my favourite. Picking up Joanne proves Gaga’s talent as she’s able to switch between styles and write songs from the heart. My favourites from this album are ‘Joanne’, ‘Sinners Prayer’ and ‘Hey Girl’.

Crybaby – Melanie Martinez

This is such a strange but important album. Melanie Martinez is unlike anyone I’ve ever seen before and has a very unique voice. My favourites from this album are  ‘Doll House’, ‘Sippy Cup’ and ‘Mrs Potato Head’.

Badlands – Halsey

I first listened to Halsey after watching a fan made Suicide Squad trailer focusing on Harley Quinn. There’s something about listening to Halsey that makes me feel pumped up for the day, and like a total badass. My favourites are ‘Castle’, ‘New Americana’ and ‘Hold Me Down’.

Brand New Eyes – Paramore

This album got me through some tough times, in fact, all of the Paramore albums have. I listen to this when I just need to sing along to something that I know absolutely every word to. My favourites are ‘Brick By Boring Brick’, ‘Playing God’ and ‘All I wanted’.

Technicolour – Sainte

I absolutely loved We Are The In Crowd, this is some of their members in a new band called Sainte. So far they’ve only released this song but I’m hoping there is a lot more to come.

Get Weird – Little Mix

I saw Little Mix with my sister and they were surprisingly good, I didn’t realise how much I’d like them. Now, their latest album is my go to album to cheer myself up. ‘Hair’, ‘Weird People’ and ‘Grown’ are some of my favourite tracks.

McFly Mix

I absolutely love Tom’s Youtube channel and in doing so have been listening to a lot of McFly for fun. Repeated most on this album are ‘Love is Easy’, ‘The Heart Never Lies’ and ‘Transylvania’.

What have you been listening to recently? Let me know in the comments below!

Sunday 7: The Perks of Being an Auntie

This morning the world welcomed little Ollie and now I’m an Auntie to 2 little lovelies. It’s one of the best things and even when Lexi arrived as a surprise I fell in love with her and now, even though Ollie was only born at 6.55 this morning I love him too. Here are 7 things that are the best about being an Auntie/ Godmother.

Seeing someone you love become a parent is an amazing thing. You also get to see them reflected in their kids.

You get to play make believe and play with kids toys to bond. Although, Peek-a-boo is still one of my favorites.

Little people hugs are the best, the absolute best. Lexi has been known to change my entire day with one hug.

Being able to act like a kid and having an excuse for it! Lex and I used to run and shout rawr. It’s a perfect stress reliever.

Birthdays and Christmas are MAGIC to kids. I’m a huge kid around celebrations so there’s nothing better than having a like minded little person to get excited with.

Being able to give them back is the best part of being an aunt. I’m not ready for kids of my own but I love spending time with the little ones.

Having someone to cuddle, love and make smile <3.

Sunday Seven: My To Be Read Pile

Now it’s getting colder and days curled up in blankets are more acceptable I thought I’d share some of the books on my To Be Read (TBR) pile. There’s a lot more than this, but these are some I’m planning to finish in the next few weeks.

A Clash of Kings – George R.R. Martin

It’s been a while since I finished the first Game of Thrones book so I thought it was time I should get stuck into the next one in the series. After all, Winter is coming.

Shrill – Lindy West

A fab feminist read, because I always need a good book from a kick-ass woman on the go.

The Wicked and The Divine: Rising Action – Kieron Gillen, Jamie McKelvie (Illustrator), Matt Wilson (Illustrator)

This is one of the weirdest graphic novel series’s that I read and I’m SO excited, can’t wait to get this read!

Hello Me, It’s You –  Anonymous, edited by Hannah Todd

I requested this from the publisher, mostly because I’m interested in what other people would say to their younger selves. I really hope this is as good as I think it’s going to be.

Belzhar – Meg Wolitzer

A young adult novel that has something to do with Sylvia Plath? Sign me up!

In Order to Live – Yeonmi Park

I don’t know a lot about North Korea. I’m hoping that Yeonmi’s account, which I’ve heard only good things about, can teach me about what it’s like for the people.

Brain on Fire – Susannah Cahalan

I’m always interested in reading other people’s accounts of their lives with mental illness. Susannah’s book was recommended to me on Goodreads.

What’s on your reading list? Let me know in the comments below!

Sunday Seven: Super Cakes from the Cake and Bake show 2016

Yesterday Abbie, Sums, Mum and I headed into London to go to this years cake and bake show. The absolute best part was definitely the competition entries. The skill and artistry that have gone into making these was amazing. There were so many good ones and it was hard to pick just 7 to show you all but here are some of my favourites.

Reign of Fire by Mylene Wolfe

The detail that went into each of the tiny scales, the facial features and the wings was absolutely incredible. I’m pretty sure this is Smaug, although that tag doesn’t specifically say so.

Enchanted by Jane Lashbrook

This was both terrifying as well as being enchanting as its name suggests. I don’t think the picture does justice to how lifelike this cake looked.

Dragon Warrior by Zahir Rathod

There were multiple warriors and dragons but this was absolutely incredible because everything was edible on this cake, every single part.

The BFG by Noemi Orbay

This is just amazing, the size, the kindness of the face I just absolutely loved it.

Harry Potter and the Sorting Hat

Harry Potter Cake? Of course this was going to make the list. Harry Potter will always make the list.

The Little Mermaid by Amoy Stone

This was a beautiful cake, as well as the main mermaid I loved the detail of the growth that she’s sitting on. I also loved the fact that Amoy didn’t just make Disney’s version, instead this focuses on the original fairy tale.

Honeydukes Express Harry Potter by Namrah Arfan

More Harry Potter! I loved the originality of this, using Honeydukes and the fact that there were so many individual pieces, particularly the Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans that had been hand crafted. I wanted to take this home the most.

Sunday Seven: Lush Halloween and Christmas Haul!

As I mentioned in last weeks Sunday Seven, one of my favourite things about Autumn is the new Lush products that come in every year. So what better way to celebrate them than share them with you!! After shopping with my fellow Lush addict Abbie I picked out a few to share with you! For the most part I’ve tried to include new bath ballistics (I wanted to pick up all the shower stuff too but, you know girls gotta eat), whether they are new to store or just new to me. Just to note, this post is NOT sponsored in any way.

This is a hot contender for one of my favourite bath products EVER, I don’t remember seeing this one last year but I am in LOVE with it and so glad I bought two. It smells like refreshers and makes the bath a beautiful shade of orange. They’re only in store until Halloween though, so get moving!

Sparkly Pumpkin Bubble Bar

So. Much. Glitter. This is one that’s been around for a while but it just screams Halloween to me. On the other hand my boyfriend hates it because he always ends up with glitter all over him. Sorry not sorry.

Northern Lights

Both Abbie and I are SO excited about using this, because of what we’ve seen on Lush’s Instagram. The colours and magic that are in this are incredible. It also smells delicious.

Lord of Misrule

I used the shower gel constantly so I’m in love with the smell but I’ve been told by the brilliant Lush staff that there is a surprise, it looks green but you’ll end up with a beautiful red bath!

Shoot for the Stars

I’ll be honest I went for this one because of the colour and the glitter, it smells pretty good too.

Never Mind The Ballistics

Not only does this smell scrummy, it’s also got a nice smooth, and slightly strange, texture on the top. Oh and it’s named with a punk theme, Lush are just incredible human beings.

Star Dust

This is for a much more chilled out bath. While it smells lovely (although I can’t quite make out what it is) it’s very relaxing and Abbie and I have suspicion that it also has some beautiful colourful surprises that await.

Candy Mountain

Now I know this is Sunday Seven buuuuut I’ve snuck in one of my all time favourites. This beautifully sweet bubble bar is one of my favourite christmas scents. Mmm, mmm, mm.

What are some of your Lush favourites? Are there any more I should try? Let me know in the comments below!

Sunday Seven: Best Things About Autumn

This week welcomed the first day of Autumn, which I was stupidly excited about. I absolutely love Autumn, it’s my favourite season of the year, because the sun can still be shining but it’s also great to snuggle up with blankets, books and tea. To honor the amazing season finally coming around this weeks Sunday Seven is dedicated to the great things to look forward to in Autumn.

Going back to Jumpers, Scarfs and Hats! Come at me!

Although I am prone to losing a hat or a scarf sometimes I absolutely love getting snuggled up and I can wear chunky jumpers to work with some tights and a nice skirt, SO much easier to be comfortable and look good in the Autumn.

Lush’s Halloween and Christmas Ranges Are Out!

I’m a HUGE Lush fan, Autumn is my favourite time of year for their products with two new lots of seasonal items. After popping in to get some Pumpkin Bath Bombs yesterday, Abbie and I will be heading back next weekend when their Christmas range hits the shop! I’m also planning a trip to their Oxford Street shop to pick up some exclusives! To see the whole range (which is going to take most of my bank account) go to their website.

Hot Chocolate, Lots and Lots of Hot Chocolate

Mmmm, mmm, mmm.

Morning Sunshine

Crisp air and August Sunshine makes getting up that little bit easier.

Comfort Food

Pies, Stews, Cakes, ALL THE FOOD.

Onesie and Fluffy Pyjama Life

I’m a huge onesie fan. I have more than I’m going to admit and there’s nothing better than a good pair of Primark chunky PJs on a cold night.

Bonfire Night (UK only) and Halloween

In the UK we have Bonfire Night. It’s a night full of Fireworks, Bonfires and Sparklers. I have so many fond memories of being wrapped up in layers and heading to the local War Memorial Park with my family to watch the town fireworks, sadly it’s been cancelled this year due to costs. That said Autumn also brings Halloween! Although this year it’s on a Monday, which means I will be eating sweets and waiting for Trick or Treaters!

What are your favourite things about Autumn? Let me know in the comments below!

Sunday Seven: 22, The Year Ahead

Today is a special Sunday, I’ve turned 22! So for this week I want to talk about 7 things I want to do in the next year, before I turn 23. Enjoy!

This Year I Will…

Start Writing My First Book

Get Settled in a New Home

Sew Myself Some Clothes

Feel Confident in My Job

Buy and Make the Lego Millennium Falcon

Book to Go Back to America

Read 150 Books

Should be simple…right?

Sunday Seven: Films I Can’t Wait to See

We’re now in the last quarter of the year (how it’s come around so quickly I have no idea) and while I’m sad that the days are getting shorter and rainy days are becoming more frequent, I’m also excited because that means that curling up in the dark of a cinema instead of being outside isn’t frowned upon. So here are 7 films that are still to come this year that I’ll be picking up a ticket for.

Bridget Jones’s Baby

16th September

I’ve loved Bridget Jones for years so hearing that she was going to come back and it wasn’t going to be based on the latest book made me stupidly happy. I have plans to go on my birthday weekend to see what Bridget’s got herself  into this time.

The Girl on The Train

7th October

I saw the trailer for this and while it’s spoilt some things about the book, which I intend to read before seeing it, I was hooked. I can’t wait to see one Emily Blunt in this kind of role.

The Light Between Oceans

4th November

I loved this in novel form and I’m both excited and nervous to see how it comes across in a movie. It’s a beautiful and heartbreaking story with Alicia Vikander (The Danish Girl) playing the female lead.

Rogue One

16th December

This story is set before A New Hope and after seeing what Disney have done with The Force Awakens I have high hopes that they can pull this off too. It’s all about how the Rebels got hold of the plans for the Death Star. *please be good, please be good, please be good*

Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them

18th November

Harry Potter and Eddie Redmayne combined? Sold.

Doctor Strange

28th October

Marvel knows how to make a good movie. While I wasn’t crazy about the Doctor Strange comic book I read, I have seen the trailer and it appears to have the Marvel charm. This is going to be a definite watch.

A United Kingdom

25th November

I don’t know too much about this film but the trailer looked breathtaking a story of love against the odds as the Prince of Botswana marries a young white woman in the 1940s.

What else should I be booking a ticket for? Let me know in the comments!
