Owlcrate Unboxing and Review – August

It’s that time of the month again! My Owlcrate sub box has arrived with the theme of ‘High School’. The usual reminder that if you don’t want to know what’s in this box just yet this isn’t the review for you as I will be talking through all of the contents of this month’s box. 🙂

Bookish Badges

I absolutely loved finding these in my box, I have a thing about pin badges that I can put on my rucksack. They’re a bit different too and will make a great addition to my bag.

Adult Colouring Book and Notebook

These were nice little additions for the box but did feel a little like filler to me.

Harry Potter Print

I LOVED this print that was put in this month’s box, it looks the closest to the original trio as I see them. Harry’s hair is a mess, Ron’s freckles are perfect and Hermione has the bushy hair and big teeth we all know and love.

Eleanor and Park Exclusive Necklace

This is a sweet little necklace but unfortunately this isn’t for me as I’m not a Rainbow Rowell fan, I tried Fan Girl and it just wasn’t my thing. I’m sure this would be a great treat for a fan but not for me.

P.S I Like You by Kasie West

This month’s novel came with mini colouring pencils, which was a cute addition. I don’t read a lot of YA that’s focused on romance but after reading the letter that came with West’s novel I’m a lot more intrigued to read it.

Overall I wasn’t as impressed with this month’s box as I would have liked to have been. That said, High School wasn’t a theme I was particularly excited about. Hopefully  next month’s box, ‘Darkness’ will be more to my tastes!

It’s that time of the month again! Yes it’s Illumicrate unboxing and review! As always if you don’t want to see/read about the contents of this box LOOK AWAY NOW! If not, I’m so excited to share what I think is possibly the best book box I’ve received so far and with that, on with the review.

The Graces by Laure Eve with letter

I’d never heard of this book prior to getting my sub box but it looks incredible. There’s talk of witches, power and wealth. The letter from author Laure is also a lovely touch to the box, it also came with a signed sticker to place inside the book. I can’t wait to tuck into this!

IMG_8675

NeverNight – Jay Kristoff

I actually squealed when I found this in the box. I’d actually pre ordered this online but luckily my box got here before. I’m SO excited to read this assassin based novel and love a good bookmark and something to stick up. *squeal*

IMG_8672

Gilmore Girls Exclusive Bag

Now, I’ve never seen Gilmore Girls (although I might give it a go seeing as there is so much hype) but found out that this means ‘ready for anything’, I love that quote. So it’s a win, win. IMG_8676

The Trio Coasters by Taratjah Art – Exclusive

I was nervous when it was announced there would be an item related to The Cursed Child (see my review here) but this catered to both the original films and the current play. I do think it’s odd that the Hermione’s don’t match but I supposed one is to match Emma and one Noma. Either way they were a nice addition to the box and thoughtful of different interpretations of Hermione.

IMG_8677

Drink Me Strawberry Tea from Post Tea (also an exclusive)

An Alice in Wonderland themed treat, I’ve never tried a Strawberry tea before but I’m excited to try this.

IMG_8679IMG_8680

Small Prints

Now, I’m not sure what these are from and the box doesn’t tell me either, they are beautiful designs though and I’d like to know more.

IMG_8683

Bookmark Discount Code

I love a good bookmark and the promise of an unusual bookmark is always a bonus, I’ll be heading over to check them out soon!

IMG_8681

Witch Tattoos

This ties in with The Graces (I think) as a fun addition. I doubt I’ll wear them but I will head over and take the quiz!

IMG_8682

Colouring Quotes – Ashley Poston

Some fun colouring from Ashley Poston, we also received a discount for her latest book. These are fun but without reading the books I have no idea of their significance, either way colouring is colouring!

IMG_8678

Unboxed print and discount code

The latest novella from Non Pratt (who I once met and is really nice) with a discount code as it is out this month! The novella promises to be about ‘a brilliantly diverse case of characters…return to their old school and discover that no one can ever truly go back’. I may have to pick this one up.

IMG_8671

And that’s all of it! It was such a lot of content that I almost couldn’t fit it all in one picture! Again I can 100% recommend illuminate, it’s definitely my favourite book sub so far!

July Owlcrate Unboxing and Review: Good vs Evil

IMG_8543

It’s finally here! After months of watching unboxings, reading reviews and drooling over the contents I ordered my first Owlcrate box thanks to a promotional code from Cece over at ProblemsofaBookNerd. This was slightly more pricey than other crates I’ve tried BUT I have to say that I’m impressed with the contents and it was well worth the wait. This month’s theme was Good vs Evil, half of the boxes are good and half evil, the book is the same but the box is a surprise. While I got the evil box, my cousin got good and it was nice to see the difference between them.

IMG_8552

Death Star Necklace

As most of you know I am obsessed with Star Wars  I love it and so finding a little necklace of the Death Star in it! Now, I am slightly jealous because the good crate got the Millenium Falcon because obviously I’m with the Force. That said I love this, it is beautifully made. Also, please excuse any stray at hair in the picture, Suki decided she also liked the crate.

IMG_8544

Draco Malfoy Funko Pop

Ah Draco, angry, confused, although I don’t know if I’d go as far as evil. I was stupidly excited to receive this, even though I already have the pop (because I have a Harry Potter obsession and so I have all but 3 of the pops now). This is  a GREAT addition to the box, absolutely fab!

IMG_8553

The Red Queen Bookmark

A classic villain for this little magnetic bookmark, an adorable design and so cute too!

IMG_8548

Harper Collins mini colouring book

I LOVED this idea. Harper Collin’s have included a small colouring book full of their YA covers, I’d love to see more of these, because who doesn’t love colouring!

IMG_8547

Here are some of the bits and pieces included, including the breakdown of this month’s box, a sticker and a hint of next month’s box which will also include Harry Potter!

IMG_8546

This Savage Song – Victoria Schwab

I let out a squeal of joy when I found this in my box, I’ve had this on my to read list and now I have my own copy!! So exciting! The cover is beautiful and it came with a letter from the author and a signed sticker (which I’ve placed inside). I can’t wait to get stuck in to read about the monster’s that Schwab have created.

 IMG_8555

I absolutely loved my first Owl Crate, so I’m going to be keeping my subscription, especially as there are going to be Harry Potter related goodies in it! As always I’d love to know your thoughts, so pop them in the comments below!

Marvel Collector Corps: Women of Power Review and Unboxing

It’s that time again! Yes, yesterday my Marvel Collector Corps box landed yesterday and knowing that Spider Gwen was on the front of the box got me SUPER excited when it was announced so I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the box and see what’s inside. So for my full unboxing and review keep scrolling, if you DON’T want any spoilers then pop back later.

IMG_7769

Spider Gwen T-shirt

This is my favourite part of the box this month. Spider Gwen was the first comic book that I properly got into, Spider man the first super-hero. Although I’m not keen on it being grey (it’s summer, everyone’s all sweaty and gross) but I do love the design.

IMG_7770

Pin and Badge

As usual there are the badge and pin that come with every set. I’m not that keen on the design and feel like there could have been better women to put on, just my opinion.

IMG_7771

Civil War 2, Issue 1

I’ve been waiting to pick this up for a while and I’m super happy it was included. Obviously Captain Marvel is key in this series and it’ll be interesting to have a flick through and see how it holds up to the original Civil War. Also I absolutely love the cover, as I do with all the variants I’ve received so far.

IMG_7768

Mystery Mini’s

I kind of didn’t get the point of these. The whole point of mystery mini’s is the excitement of not knowing what’s in the box and seeing who you get. Giving us these with the characters on the front was kind of disappointing and took away from the point of them.

IMG_7767

Squirrel Girl Pop Vinyl

Now I’ll admit, I didn’t know Squirrel girl was a thing, I’ve never seen her, read a comic book and of that. I was quite disappointed with her and I won’t be keeping the pop.

IMG_7766

Overall this is the box that I’ve liked least since I started collecting. While I can appreciate that for some it was a good box I was very underwhelmed. I’m holding out a lot more hope for the next MCM box which is Spider Man, but unfortunately this one wasn’t for me.

Illumicrate May 2016 Unboxing and Review

d6e93d54f402486eb649df49895ec401

Hello, hello, hello! I have finally been able to go back to my parents house and pick up my illumicrate which I literally missed by about 2 days the last time I was here. I’ve been waiting to get my hands on an affordable book subscription box, Illumicrate are based in the UK I believe, so I don’t have to pay huge shipping costs which are not my friend while I’m job hunting. So I may be a little late to the game but I’m hoping to try out more subscription boxes this year and give you guys an idea of what’s out there. Don’t forget that I’ve also done unboxing and reviews for MCM Collector Corps and Lootcrate too! On to the wonderful illumicrate…

Bookworm Clip by My Bookish Mark and Readers Gonna Read Pin by Literary Emporium

How adorable is this bookmark?! I’m always on the lookout from new bookmarks because I will literally use anything I can. Also the Readers Gonna Read pin is such good quality and it seems like it’s going to last. Love it. Love it. Love it.

IMG_7596

Ex Libris Stamp by Little Stamp Store

This is such an adorable little stamp and something that I didn’t expect at all and it has a fox on it!!! If you didn’t know I’m all about the foxes. Now I can go through and stamp all my favourite books if I want to WITH FOXES!

 IMG_7593

Jenny McLachlan Badges

I’ve not heard of Jenny McLachlan before recieving these badges but they’re cute and in bright summery colours, I can definitely see myself putting them onto a tote bag! I’m also going to have to give Jenny a Google later on!

IMG_7594

When We Collide – Emery Lord

I have wanted to pick this up on my last few bookshop trips and it’s been on my to read list since it came out so when ‘When We Collide’ was buried in my box I let out more than a little squeal, there’s also a set of postcards and a signed sticker from Emery (which has not been put inside the book). 10/10 for this book, very well done to the illumicrate team for finding this gem!

IMG_7590

Book Club Mug by The Art of Escapism and To Be Read List Notepad by Goodnight Boutique

I didn’t get individual pics of these two amazing items. The mug is a great size and is made of a strong plastic so you can use it inside, outside and it’s just got a really cute design on it too. The other awesome exclusive is this notepad! It had a to review list, a books to buy list and a currently reading list on it, I can see this becoming VERY useful.
