Sunday Seven: Things a Mum does that you might not recognise

Here in the UK it’s mothers day! Now I’ve been incredibly lucky and won the luck or the draw with my Mum. She’s been absolutely incredible throughout every up and down in my life. I know I’ve probably added a few grey hairs to her head (sorry Mum!). There are a lot of things that Mum’s do for most of us don’t really think about. Here’s to all the Mum’s and everything you do for us.

They have literally wiped our butts.

Yup, before we could do anything our Mum’s had to be there for absolutely everything, including keeping us clean.

They’ve cleaned up after us.

Speaking of cleaning, our Mum’s have cleaned up after us. I know mine did! Even when we probably should have known better, they still cleaned up after us.

They taught us right from wrong.

Someone tells you you’re polite? Someone compliments you? Chances are it has something to do with what your mumma taught you.

They didn’t give up on us.

I know that I’ve been in places where I’ve given up on myself , but my Mum never did.

They also told us when we were wrong.

My Mum definitely isn’t afraid to tell me when I’m wrong or when I’m being stupid, it’s definitely needed.

They fed us and kept us alive.

And I’m not just talking about when we’re babies, Mum’s frozen dinners really made a difference when I was at uni.

They loved us unconditionally.

Even when we were little monsters, they loved us, all day, every day.

Happy Mother’s Day ❤

21 Things to know about my Mum

Today is my amazing Mum’s birthday!! I don’t need to tell you again how much I love her and how much she does for me on a daily basis (including having to push me around town on her birthday, sorry Mum!). So my Mum is eternally 21 or younger in her head so I thought I’d share 21 things instead of the age she actually is today *cough 42, cough*.

1. My Mum couldn’t drink on her 21st birthday because she was growing me and stuff.

2. Her first school shoes were purple heels, the rebellion begins.

3. She likes Marmite…that’s gross.

4. She has smaller feet than me…

5. …oh and she’s tiny, even shorter than me!

6. Pink is Mums colour, always, always pink.

7. She could drink almost all of my friends under the table.

8. For a long time she called Instagram, Instragram…oh Mum

9. She wanted to be a mechanic while she was growing up

10. Disney is her favourite place, in the world, ever.

11. She has the strange ability to get any animal to misbehave

12. My Mum is the reason I love live music! She’s been taking me to concerts since I was 4! Actually the first was while I was still in her belly.

13. She was a slight demon child to her siblings, my aunt has the proof

14. My Mum’s a FIGHTER! She’ll kick your butt

15. Madonna, everything Madonna.

20. You always hear my Mum coming down the road in the car because of the music blasting from it.

21. She’s the most incredible woman you’ll ever meet and I’m so lucky she’s mine ❤

5 Reasons my Mum is the absolute BEST.

I’m sure it comes as no surprise to you guys that I think my Mum is absolutely incredible. Well, that’s because she is. Mumma Metzgie as my friends call her is an absolute gem and I wanted to write this post about her because she deserves it!

1. She never lets me down

Never, ever, ever. From day 1 and I don’t think she ever will.

2. She’s the strongest person I know

She’s been through a lot of crap, she was the first person I’d turn to when I was bullied because she’d been there and she really hold our family together. It’s hard to explain but she’s just so bloody strong and calm ❤

3. She can drink most people under the table and down a pint.

My Mum is still going out with her friends on nights out and is amazing drunk, so, so much fun. It probably helps that she looks 10 years younger than she is as well.

4. Life is never boring with my Mum

She’s almost always laughing at something. Mum is the biggest kid you will ever meet, to the point where her favourite place in the world is disney world and she plans to dress up as Elsa or Ana for Halloween in Disney World. Sometimes I get too stressed and serious but Mum always manages to get me to relax and have fun…although I’m still hesitant over a night out with her. All my friends love her and most of the guys think she’s attractive. You go mumma, go!

5. She’s never given up on me.

She hasn’t always had it easy being my Mum, but she’s never given up. Going to meeting after meeting, dealing with me when I’m having a meltdown, talking to me constantly when I need it and when I was younger she really fought for me. I am who I am because of all of this, my Mum believed in me no matter what

Happy Mother’s Day Mum, you really are the best.
