Life Update – February 2021

Hello, hello, hello lovely people!

I was thinking about what to write today and I thought it’s been a while since I’ve given you guys a general life update and a more chatty, free flowing blog – so why not fill you all in? I have to say I’ve seen you all popping up and having a read, even if I haven’t been posting as much as I’d want to recently.

So what’s been going on? If you have been a reader for a long time you’ll know that the end of 2020 was pretty brutal, leaving our flat and moving in with Ali’s Mum, losing another pet, getting Covid and missing Christmas because of it and we were meant to get married in January – it was not a good time.

February came around and everything just kind of slowed down and stopped. While work was starting to really pick up and I enjoyed the projects I was working on, making new relationships it was all good there…but not so much outside. In January I struggled with fatigue, I thought it was just getting over having covid but this was another level and reminded me of another time.

I couldn’t focus on anything, I had enough energy to work and then I was crashing completely. Even if I wasn’t sleeping I was simply laying on my bed and the most I could do was scroll through my phone. I’d been there before when my B12 levels were low so I requested a blood test. While I was waiting I felt guilty, I couldn’t read anything, I didn’t have the energy for my blog and although I was doing a weekly longer walk with the dog something was just…off.

So, 10 points to Gryffindor for me knowing my body wasn’t ok. It turns out I was on the money and my B12 was the lowest it had ever been – score. It also flagged up some other issues health wise which equated to damn, no wonder I’ve been struggling so much. I was proud of the fact at least I was working because, I really love my job and what I’ve built for myself in the past 2 and a half years.

Now I’m getting treatment, the biggest part is 6 ‘loading doses’ of B12 to get me back to a good level, I’ll then need an injection every 3 months. I’m also finally going back to see a joint specialist to try and get myself sorted. In the past week in particular, I’ve really started to feel more in control and like the normal me is slowing coming back, let’s hope so. I’m also actively trying to lose weight due to advice from my doctor regarding one of my conditions – a week in and I’m 2Ibs down!

I’m looking forward to seeing what March brings, and not only because we should be able to meet up with people outside again without exercise (it’s been a bloody nightmare when you have no energy).

See you all again soon!

Life Update: How’re Things Going?

Hey girls and guys, it’s been a little while since I wrote this kind of post but I think it’s time.

We’re over a quarter of the way through 2019, I’m fine, it’s fine we’re all FINE. In all seriousness though, it’s gone pretty quickly and each month has had something memorable for me some big, others just a personal moment. It seemed like a perfect time to catch you guys up.

Three months down and quite a few changes. I moved house, started an awesome freelance project, got engaged, got a new hamster and I’m sure there are so many other things I’m forgetting as I’m typing this. As you can imagine, with all that change I felt very overwhelmed and had times where my mental health wasn’t at it’s best. I’m doing okay now, I’m on the waiting list for some therapy and I’m going to get through it.

So, what does May look like over here? Hopefully, I’ll be blogging a LOT more. I’m not promising every day, although I did think about doing every day in May – right now that’s not a pressure I want to put on myself. The funk I was in is slowly passing, so let’s hope that continues.

I also have 2 award events I’ve been invited to, hopefully a good amount of work to keep me busy, a Hen Do (Bachelorette party for my US readers), hopefully booking my wedding venue (!!), a family meal and at some point I hope to get some sleep. Oh! And before I forget this month is Fibromyalgia awareness day and Mental Health Week. So keep your eyes peels for those.

In short, this is a post to say I’m back. I haven’t been feeling 100% but I’m working though it and I’m looking forward to blogging again.

May, I am so ready for you.

Life Update: I’m Getting Married!

Hello, lovelies!

I have been a little quiet on social media the first part of the week and that’s because I was keeping a secret and I didn’t trust myself not to spill the beans because…I’M GETTING MARRIED! Yep, that’s right this girl is going to be a Mrs.

If you’re interested in the details then read on, if you’re just here for the news, thank you!

As my regular readers know Ali and I have been together for 10 years after we met at school. We’ve spoken before about getting engaged and married but it wasn’t a rush. Lately, we’ve been talking about it more and so I hoped it might happen soon.

On Monday, we met our friends Ed and Emmi for lunch and a catch-up – no mention of getting engaged, nothing. While walking around Emmi and I looked at rings, half joking half serious aaaaand something weird happened. Ali was actually talking to me about which ones he likes, which ones I like. We looked at a lot of shops.

Then came the last shop, coincidently where we bought my necklace for my 18th birthday and had a browse. While looking, our friend Ed nudged the sales assistant to show us the engagement rings. I don’t know why but I started to freak out? Damn this was just looking right? RIGHT?

Then Ali asked to look at the two we both liked. We ended up choosing one while internally I was trying to work out what the hell was going on. Were we engaged now? The ring would take a few days to be delivered to our home, I was sworn to secrecy until it arrived and then I was asked…

LONGEST TWO DAYS EVER.

I avoided everyone, I didn’t trust myself and although I didn’t know when I’d be asked I thought it might be a good idea to go and get my nails done and then, after a day of teasing on Wednesday night Ali asked me to marry him.

I’m going to be his wife?! Which is crazy. We waited to tell all of our family and close friends before the rest of the world and I’ve just been blown away by how loved we are. People I haven’t spoken to since school got in contact saying they’d been waiting to see this. Work colleagues, people from uni. As I write this I’ve had over 300 Twitter likes which is insane?!

So, yeah, I’m getting married. I’m pretty excited and my fiancè is pretty cute.

Taking The Plunge – I’m a Freelancer

I’m so excited to share tonight’s blog with you with a big life update. A few weeks ago I lost my job due to contracts, yep, that happened. So I did what I’d done before I applied for a load of jobs, but I also toyed with the idea of becoming a freelancer.

Working for myself is something I’ve thought about for a while, but there were already so many obstacles, or so I thought. I didn’t have enough of a push to make it happen. Leave a job and jump into the unknown? That’s crazy! Then I didn’t have a job, I had a little bit of money and a whole lot of time between interviews. Why not give it a shot?

I got in contact with people I’d known in the past, I started actively using my Linkedin every day to chat, comment and post. At most, I thought ok I’ll do this as a side hustle. I still needed something full time because you know rent and bills. Then I managed to get in contact with some local businesses, I picked up work with them and another, then some more bits and pieces. Was I a Freelancer now? Apparently so.

Do I know if this is going to be forever? Nope. Does that slightly terrify me? Yep. The thing is I needed to give this a go. I need to try because otherwise, it will bother me for the rest of my life. I know in my heart I want to make a success for myself and slowly, over the past few years I’ve built up confidence little by little in what I can do

I’m really excited that I’m now the founder of Ladybird Social my own Social Media and Digital Content business! It’s going to be a while ride and I’m so excited to see it grow.

So what is it that I actually do?

I work with businesses on Social Media content (actually writing it), management (being the person behind a feed, monitoring them etc), training. The other side of it is writing digital content, whether that be for website pages, regular blogs, whitepapers etc.

I’m writing this with a huge smile my face and you can bet I’m going to work my arse off on this. Wish me luck!

Life Update: Kidney Stones

I wasn’t planning on a post today, I haven’t actually been able to concentrate on much today because I was told yesterday that I have Kidney Stones. Yep, that’s now a thing. I’d never really thought about them, I don’t think most people will until they have them and then they give you absolute hell.

I’m now towards the end of my third day of pain and it’s hard to describe. When it first started happening at work on Thursday I told my colleague I thought I was going to die. In the past 3 days I’ve had numerous calls with my GP, two misdiagnosis’s, tests and a hospital visit and not a lot of sleep through it all. It’s pretty rough.

So, why am I writing about this? I don’t know how long this will take to get sorted. Hopefully, it can be dealt with quickly and without any procedures or surgery but it’s a waiting game. If you’re a regular reader you have nothing to fear, scheduled blogs will carry on, I might just be a little quieter on Twitter.

That’s where I’m at and I wanted to keep my lovely readers updated so you know I haven’t disappeared!

Love,

Chloe

I’m Not Going to Miss October – Life Update.

It’s been a funny old month and although I was really looking forward to it initially, I’m not a fan of October 2017. This month my life has, again, completely changed in a way that I didn’t expect, although that might not be a bad thing, in the long run, I’m still working that out.

At the beginning of October, I lost my job, something which was a complete shock for me. It completely knocked me off balance. I had a lot of self-doubts, a lot of questions, a lot of stress. Following that, I had my bank cards eaten by a machine, a nasty case of tonsillitis and ended up in Accident & Emergency. It was pretty tough for a few weeks. Why am I writing about this though? Why am I posting about it on the internet?

When I started this blog I wanted to be honest about what my life is like, initially at university and now as a graduate. I didn’t want to mislead those of you who read my blog. It’s been emotionally and mentally draining to go pick myself up again and go on the job hunt when I wanted to just cry.

It hasn’t all been negative. Ali’s come home from tour and having him here has been wonderful. Having company again and someone to wake up to and wish me luck as I leave.

I’m determined to make November better, to be back in work and back on track heading towards 2018.

Life Update: We’re Moving!

new-keys

I spent the last few days moving boxes, going to IKEA and trying to sort out the piles and piles of books that I own. Yes! We finally have the keys to our new home. It’s taken a long time of trying to find a place that we liked, sorting ourselves out with jobs and security. We found this flat a few days after Christmas and have spent just under a month filling out paperwork, going through referencing checks, finding furniture and all that jazz. I’m so happy with our new home and can’t wait to make it 100% ours.
