A Typical Night Out

IMG_5512

As I write this I’m not a big party person. I usually try to have one big night out with Abbie once a month, normally on a Friday, but what exactly happens on those nights? Which I’ll admit have been getting a little more frequent recently much to our amusement. So, here’s what a typical night out looks like for me.

4.30pm – Finish work

It’s the start of the weekend, you’ll normally see me with the windows down (if it’s not raining, we are in England after all) party music blasting as I leave the car park, I’m pretty sure my colleagues always know it’s me. The weekend has begun.

5.00pm – Time to start getting ready

I don’t take an age to get ready, if I can help it I like to be able to take my time and enjoy myself. A long shower is my go to, with my phone still blasting music. For every emotion music is my go to. Sometimes I get a little anxious about nights out, the amount of people, lots of drunk people etc. so my music helps me battle that anxiety.

7.00pm – Meet up and get some food, Wetherspoons special

I love a good Wetherspoons, it’s cheap with a good atmosphere and you can order alcohol on an app. We usually meet at 7 and get some food, Chicken Strips are a go to for me. Then we start on some drinks.

9.00pm – Cocktails and selfies

Around 9ish we’ll move on to somewhere for 2 for 1 cocktails, it’s also the prime time for selfie taking…

10.30pm – On to the Bar

Which leads us on to go to one of the few bars in Basingstoke. More cocktails, a bit of dancing and a lot of laughing. We like going somewhere where we can sit and chill as well as have fun rather than stand in crowded spaces.

12:30 am – We usually give up

We’re not the kind of people who go out until 3am, we never have been! I’m more than happy to go home, get in my PJs in a nice tipsy state and get some sleep.

My Topshop Dress Wish List

img_6822-1

Recently I’ve been getting a little bit obsessed with finding clothes to wear when I’m either working or going to nice events. It cropped up on me that I only have a few smart dresses and more than a few smart events that I have to attend. While I’ve picked up a small set of working outfits for as soon as I get a job (which I’m hoping will be sooner rather than later). I decided to try something a little different on my blog tonight (part of my new blog plans, I can’t wait for you to see!) and show you my Topshop Spring/Summer 2016 wishlist.

I love this cute little dress! Now, I am partial to a good black dress but I also love colour, so this is the best of both worlds. It’s also something that I could be comfortable in whilst still looking smart. I would definitely pair this with either a pair of converse or Doc Martens for everyday and then some black pumps for work.

Something a little smarter and brighter for the next dress on my wishlist. I find this shape really flattering on my body shape, i.e. having a set of boobs and a bum. It’s something I’d have to try on but would look great with a pair of low heels for something a little more formal. Screen Shot 2016-05-03 at 19.18.42

This is definitely the most feminine of the dresses on this list. I’m not really a girly girl but I could definitely see myself wearing this to a wedding or summer party. I love the rose design and the fact it look painted, yet expensive! It definitely looks very expensive too so I’m impressed with the price!

Although I would say this is more of a Autumn/ Winter dress, something I’d pair with some thick black tights or leggings and some boots. Screen Shot 2016-05-03 at 19.18.02

This on the other hand is very cute and summery, something I’d love to add to my wardrobe to give it a bit of a lighter tone. There’s so many colours on here too there would lots of choice for accessories too. Screen Shot 2016-05-03 at 19.16.51

This feels like it is a great staple piece. I’ve seen these absolutely everywhere and I was so happy because you can do so much with them! Want a laid back look? Throw  on a band t-shirt and some Doc Martens. If I need something a little smarter for work or an event then I could just wear a stripy long sleeved shirt. Sorted.

I love this so, so much. It’s a cute 1940s kind of style and a beautiful simple design too so that it’s pretty but not to in your face. This would definitely be a great dress for smart casual.Screen Shot 2016-05-03 at 19.11.33

Again this is something that can work both ways depending on accessories. In the summer it can be a light dress just to chill out in and then in the winter a thick roll neck or long sleeved t-shirt.

The first night out, nerves as well!!

Image

The thought of going out has been playing on my mind now for about a month. Bekkie and I had discussed going to cheese night this weekend but when we came to discussing it I felt awful. I’d hardly slept due to noise in the flat/building, I was exhausted and ended up bursting into tears over absolutely nothing and so we decided that we’d go home have a nap and go from there.  After talking to my tutor I was starting to feel better and ended up sleeping for 3 hours when I got back, after a bite to eat I was ready to give it a go.

I was stressed I wont lie, I’d never properly done this before well not in clubs anyway. We ended up going with my flatmate Christie and some other friends and headed to the pub first, which had now evolved to a club atmosphere. We ordered some drinks and were getting ready to head into the club opposite. The problem however was the boys. Now we’re a group of fairly attractive girls so it wasn’t unheard of for boys to try and dance with us, I however made sure they wouldn’t get the wrong idea. Normally if they see a ring on your finger (even if it you buy it yourself, make it look like an engagement ring) most of the time it will work tonight it didn’t. Some of the guys were nice and just looking to chat  (well I thought so) some were complete idiots and would not take no for an answer especially the old ones who pretended they were in their twenties. You’re not fooling anyone, give up old men who are double my age.

Despite the fun however I started feeling really poorly and my kidneys started to ache. After not being back long I didn’t want to push it and Bekkie didn’t feel like the club either. So we left and went to McDonalds. So it might not have been a wild night but I tried.

I’ll try again next time 😉
