My Gramps

Today is my Gramp’s birthday. I could write pages about it him because he is one of my favourite people in the entire world and he has been since I was a tiny baby. I would stand in my cot and wait for him to get me up, I wouldn’t go to sleep until he’d come home (much to my Mum’s annoyance, especially when she had things to do) and he’s one of the few people in my life to sit and talk about history, religion, politics.

In light of his birthday I wanted to share one of my favourite memories. I’d been taken into hospital for stomach problems. My Mum had to go and get my overnight bag and my Dad was at home looking after my sister. So I didn’t have to wait on my own Gramps came up to sit with me, because we’re a normal set of people we decided to discuss religion and family history. These are the kind of things we do and as I’ve gotten older they haven’t changed. After he retired we’d sit on Sundays and have these kinds of talks, mostly history.

So happy birthday to one of the most wonderful men in the world!

Happy Birthday Mum!

The birthday cake Summer and I made Mum, she’ll forever be 21!

Today is my amazing Mums birthday! She’ll kill me for saying this but today is her 41st birthday (although we’re still saying that she’s 21!). I love my Mum so much and she’s incredible. I wouldn’t be the person am today without my Mum. She’s one of the funniest, funnest people around and everyone who meets her loves her. Even today she was up at the crack of dawn and off to work.

Happy birthday Mum, you’re on in a million.

Easter Sunday and Happy Birthday Nanna!

The line up of eggs and treats!

So I’m not religious, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t get excited over Easter…just for different reasons. I love chocolate, I’m a total chocoholic and it was my first thought when I wok up this morning. So I was pleased when my sister bundled into my room with an Oreo Easter egg and my dog, who cuddled up to me.

Today is also my wonderful Nanna’s birthday! She’s been quite poorly lately and today is the first time I’ve seen her since she’s been in hospital. She wanted all of us together today and you could see it cheered her up and she’s getting on the mend now! It was nice as well to be around my cousins and watch them playing and laughing and having fun, if I’m honest I’ve missed it. I really am a family girl and it makes me sad that I’ll be going back in a few days.

At the same time I’m looking forward to getting back. I’ll be moving out of halls and into my lovely new flat. I’ll get the EP finished, write some new songs and hopefully pass my driving test. I’m really trying to focus on the positives now because I am getting nervous about next year, it takes managing money to a new level, my classes will get harder. So I’m trying not to panic and focus on the good things, like today.

This afternoon was just as fun with an Easter egg hunt (where Mum forgot where she’d placed them so about an hour later we found them all!) which has to happen every year, even when I’m old. Followed by a lovely roast dinner, a quick drive and off to Ali’s for some quality time before he goes back to uni tomorrow (I won’t see him until Friday).

Happy Birthday Nanna, I love you to the moon and back.

Time out with the guys/ Happy Birthday Ben!

Despite waking up feeling like I’d swallowed gravel and was living in a heat wave tonight proved to be a great night. After last nights promise of an ‘early night’ (I laugh at myself as I write that, essay inspiration always strikes at midnight) I ended up going to bed at 2am again, not my smartest move. That said I did get 980 words of my essay done, half way and I’m not sure if a word of it makes sense! I got myself up and out of bed this morning, warmish shower and tried to carry on despite feeling like death warmed up. My voice was gone, I couldn’t cool down and all I wanted to do was curl up and sleep. Nope not today, still too much to do! I need to pack, pick up my work camera and get to Ali’s all before 4. After eating and possibly reading more of the Hunger Games (yes I’m now hooked, I have no idea how) I was feeling a bit more human.

Eventually I got to Kingston Hill on time (haha beat that sleep deprived body!) and helped the boys move stuff up for recording while having a lovely little chat with my favourite scouser, Phil. That then turned into a trip to ASDA and it was made pretty clear I’d have to wait to get back to Katniss and Peeta for a little while. I did love it though, me, the boys plus Phil. I felt happy and relaxed, exactly what I’d told my mentor I needed the day before. I was starting to feel sleepy though despite my voice somehow making it back to me and instead of starting on wine when we got back I headed back to Ali’s for food and some rest.

Well that was until we hit the bar with a Jack Daniels and honey in my hand and began dancing around the pool tables, not alone I may add, attempting to play pool a little bit drunk an dancing in an empty SU some more. After all this was a birthday party! Ben is finally 21 (the old man of the band as I have nicknamed his beardyness) and although we lost him a few times it turned out to be a great night of pool, drunk band mates, initiating me as a ‘lad’ and some really embarrassing dancing. It may have been one night but the memories will last a life time :’). In the end we didn’t make it into town, the boys had quite a few pre drinks and after we made sure Rhys got home ok, Dan had his alarm set for the morning and we’d said goodbye to Ben I was sober, and that’s how I write this. We have to be up pretty early tomorrow, the boys are recoding and I’m going home! Maybe I can still get in a chapter or two though…

Happy Birthday Rhys!!

Today is our lovely drummer Rhys’ first UK birthday! He’s turning 19 and I’m just so damn pleased we get to spend this evening with him. He’s just one of the greatest guys I know and he takes care of all of us pretty well despite being the youngest of the band (although he hates to admit it). Happy 19th Birthday Rhys, my absolute favourite American, I can’t wait to party tonight away with some awesome people!

A very happy unbirthday to me!

Now I’m not the Mad Hatter and I’m only very occasionally Alice in Wonderland but over the next week I will be celebrating 3 ‘unbirthday’s’ with cake and presents included. The 7th of September was the first, I invited a lot of friends and there was 11 of us in the end. Usually I would be very upset but it actually proved who my real friends were ( not just the people who were there, the people who bothered telling me they couldn’t be) and we had a fab time complete with Nandos, Jager Bombs (oh dear the Jager Bombs) and a very drunk me dancing around the pub to Ah-ha’s ‘Take on me’. I think it’s safe to say the hangover the next morning was very worth it. I wanted to use this post to thank everybody who came and to show how much I appreciated them being there so here it goes

Tom (not in the picture, he took it) – You came back from uni after being there just a week, thank you ‘justin’ ❤

Lydia – We’re not that close but you came anyway and got me very drunk ❤

Grace – Thank you for the lovely gift my adopted daughter. We’ve known each other so long and I’ll miss you, call me if you need me and I’ll SO be at your final fashion show next year :) .

Doug – We’ve been actual friends for nearly 15 years (yep we’re getting old) and despite the puking incident (TWICE) your still a close friend as is your lovely family. I’ll miss your funny little ways, good luck at Essex! I can’t wait to visit!

Luke – I finally got you to come out with me!! haha I’m glad we pulled through our maths GCSE I don’t know if I could have got through a re sit without your humor!

Joseph – Such a thoughtful gift Joseph, maybe we could meet at Llloyds some time haha!

Ali – I hate you, I don’t know why you came. I’m kidding, I love you thank you for getting me safely home and being a wonderful boyfriend as ever.

Erin – Eriny, thank you also for a very thoughtful present! I’ll miss hanging out with you on my frees and I’m so looking forward to seeing you do well in English ( I know you will) call me, text me, tweet me ❤

So that people is a list of true friends. You find them in the most odd places :)
