February Favourites!

It’s come around again it’s time for my monthly favourites!

Books:

This month I’ve read a fair amount (although maybe not as much as I’d like) and three books have stood out to me. The first was sent to me by Diamond Press, it’s called March and is a graphic novel written by John Lewis, a key figure in the Civil Rights movement, this is the first in a three-part series and I can’t wait to read the rest. Secondly is Here We Are, I reviewed this (catch it here) and raved about it because it is an incredible book, full of inclusion, intelligence as well as being fun! And finally, although I haven’t finished reading it, I am in love with Giovanna Fletchers newest book about being a mother. It’s not something I personally know anything about, being a mother, but I love the way Gi writes (I found her on her Youtube channel)  and it makes me feel better about the prospect of being a mother in the future.

Music:

This month was very Busted orientated, earlier this month Abbie and I went to see Busted live (again) on their Midnight Driver tour. I’ve listened to the album a lot this month it’s got an 80s vibe to it and a lot of great and upbeat tracks. Ed Sheeran also dropped a few songs this month which I’ve been obsessively listening to (while getting ready to go see him on tour later in the year). Last but not least two bands I’ve been listening to are Lower Than Atlantis and their new album Safe in Sound, I’ve also been listening to a band called Broadside thanks to my lovely boyfriend Ali.

Shop:

After the move it’s been a quite quiet month in terms of any spending. Instead, I’ve been doing a lot of window shopping, particularly in Oasis’s where I’ve fallen in love with their latest pieces!

Watching:

Yep, my viewing has been a little dark and very Netflix orientated this month. I wanted to start a new series and had heard great things about How To Get Away With Murder, so I started to watch. I also noticed that The People vs O J Simpson had been added, which I loved when it aired last year. Hopefully next months viewing will be little lighter!

General:

I’ve really embraced Lush baths to ease the pain of my back which has produced some beautiful colours! I also received some lovely gifts after coming home including a swear word colouring book and flowers! On the subject of food I’ve been loving Tetley Boost teas and getting into my own baking! I’m also loving the new Powerpuff Girls range that Primark are embracing at the moment, I LOVED the Powerpuff Girls growing up so my Mum treated me to these. And finally my first gym session post injection, I was so proud of myself- read about it here.

What have your favourite things been this month? Any recommendations? Let me know in the comments below!

Owlcrate Unboxing and Review – August

It’s that time of the month again! My Owlcrate sub box has arrived with the theme of ‘High School’. The usual reminder that if you don’t want to know what’s in this box just yet this isn’t the review for you as I will be talking through all of the contents of this month’s box. 🙂

Bookish Badges

I absolutely loved finding these in my box, I have a thing about pin badges that I can put on my rucksack. They’re a bit different too and will make a great addition to my bag.

Adult Colouring Book and Notebook

These were nice little additions for the box but did feel a little like filler to me.

Harry Potter Print

I LOVED this print that was put in this month’s box, it looks the closest to the original trio as I see them. Harry’s hair is a mess, Ron’s freckles are perfect and Hermione has the bushy hair and big teeth we all know and love.

Eleanor and Park Exclusive Necklace

This is a sweet little necklace but unfortunately this isn’t for me as I’m not a Rainbow Rowell fan, I tried Fan Girl and it just wasn’t my thing. I’m sure this would be a great treat for a fan but not for me.

P.S I Like You by Kasie West

This month’s novel came with mini colouring pencils, which was a cute addition. I don’t read a lot of YA that’s focused on romance but after reading the letter that came with West’s novel I’m a lot more intrigued to read it.

Overall I wasn’t as impressed with this month’s box as I would have liked to have been. That said, High School wasn’t a theme I was particularly excited about. Hopefully  next month’s box, ‘Darkness’ will be more to my tastes!

It’s that time of the month again! Yes it’s Illumicrate unboxing and review! As always if you don’t want to see/read about the contents of this box LOOK AWAY NOW! If not, I’m so excited to share what I think is possibly the best book box I’ve received so far and with that, on with the review.

The Graces by Laure Eve with letter

I’d never heard of this book prior to getting my sub box but it looks incredible. There’s talk of witches, power and wealth. The letter from author Laure is also a lovely touch to the box, it also came with a signed sticker to place inside the book. I can’t wait to tuck into this!

NeverNight – Jay Kristoff

I actually squealed when I found this in the box. I’d actually pre ordered this online but luckily my box got here before. I’m SO excited to read this assassin based novel and love a good bookmark and something to stick up. *squeal*

Gilmore Girls Exclusive Bag

Now, I’ve never seen Gilmore Girls (although I might give it a go seeing as there is so much hype) but found out that this means ‘ready for anything’, I love that quote. So it’s a win, win. IMG_8676

The Trio Coasters by Taratjah Art – Exclusive

I was nervous when it was announced there would be an item related to The Cursed Child (see my review here) but this catered to both the original films and the current play. I do think it’s odd that the Hermione’s don’t match but I supposed one is to match Emma and one Noma. Either way they were a nice addition to the box and thoughtful of different interpretations of Hermione.

Drink Me Strawberry Tea from Post Tea (also an exclusive)

An Alice in Wonderland themed treat, I’ve never tried a Strawberry tea before but I’m excited to try this.

Small Prints

Now, I’m not sure what these are from and the box doesn’t tell me either, they are beautiful designs though and I’d like to know more.

Bookmark Discount Code

I love a good bookmark and the promise of an unusual bookmark is always a bonus, I’ll be heading over to check them out soon!

IMG_8681

Witch Tattoos

This ties in with The Graces (I think) as a fun addition. I doubt I’ll wear them but I will head over and take the quiz!

Colouring Quotes – Ashley Poston

Some fun colouring from Ashley Poston, we also received a discount for her latest book. These are fun but without reading the books I have no idea of their significance, either way colouring is colouring!

IMG_8678

Unboxed print and discount code

The latest novella from Non Pratt (who I once met and is really nice) with a discount code as it is out this month! The novella promises to be about ‘a brilliantly diverse case of characters…return to their old school and discover that no one can ever truly go back’. I may have to pick this one up.

And that’s all of it! It was such a lot of content that I almost couldn’t fit it all in one picture! Again I can 100% recommend illuminate, it’s definitely my favourite book sub so far!
